Activities in Land Securities' City offices:
- leaflets in all offices, these remain in place in receptions at 140 London Wall; already fully fair trade for hospitality tea/coffee and for tea and instant coffee in tea points
- To promote Fairtrade Fortnight, free samples of fair trade products were given out from the Podium Reception Coffee Cart (which is Fair Trade Coffee/Tea solely already)and in all Tea Points. The new products now offered as standard on the Coffee Cart and Trolley service.
- Fruit baskets converted to Fair Trade bananas
- Fair Trade biscuit range used for hospitality
- Leaflets in all meeting rooms and receptions on podium and 13th floor (Conference room floor)
- Intranet front page had news flash and link to FT Foundation website (now on favourites)
Activities in other London offices and regional events:
- Land Securities in Strand ran a range of special product promotions and giveaways on fruit juices, cakes and pastries, cereals and fruit. A stand displayed posters etc., leaflets were available in reception area.
- 57 largest DWP sites ran special promotional events with full marketing pack and product range delivered to sites - some managers were sceptical until they ran the
event and virtually all products, which were available to them but not always ordered, are now on the shelves due to positive response from DWP staff.
- 8 DWP sites with vending machines commenced trials on Cafe Direct products, early feedback is positive
- Annual Trillium Services Conference on Tuesday 26th February 2008 (attended by all senior Facilities Managers/Directors operating business across Education/Health/MOD/Business/Govt) was addressed by Samantha Dormer of FT Foundation and Andrew Kobia Ethuru a Cafe Direct Tea Grower from Kenya. The response from the team was heartfelt and encouraging.
Planned future events:
- Friday 4th July 2008; Land Securities Environmental Conference - Harriet Lamb addressing the senior management team on Fair Trade. Personnel from Retail, London Office Portfolio and Trillium to property outsourcing division.
- Fairtrade Hub to be added to intranet favourites
- Research into Fair Trade uniforms being specified for new logo launch when Trillium demerge from Land Securities
- Key commodities being researched to switch to Fair Trade, part of 2008/09 DWP action plan and Catering Tender for 140 London Wall.
